L Star Murals is run by me, Lauren McElroy, a Philadelphia area native who lives in Los Angeles, CA. I graduated from Maryland Institute, College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2000. My journey as a commercial artist began with designing in house chalkboards for Whole Foods, which led to creating hand painted signs and murals for Trader Joe’s, helping to open over 10 stores from the ground up.
In 2012 I decided to take the leap and launch my own company, L Star Murals. Since then I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful clients, designers and collaborators, and am fortunate to still work with Trader Joe's. L Star Murals specializes in creating representational, decorative and text based designs utilizing playful, contemporary ideas, dynamic layouts and thoughtful color palettes.
While we mainly serve the greater Los Angeles area, mural projects have brought me all over Southern California and across the country. Murals of ours have been shown on Sports Illustrated, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, People Magazine, Bar Rescue, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell & Back, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, Eater LA, Silverlake Blog as well as the widely distributed 2017 band announcement for FYF Fest.
I truly appreciate the connections to all kinds of new people this job provides, and am always grateful to collaborate with adventurous and trusting partners. Aside from painting murals, I like to spend time hiking and camping with my amazing husband, gardening, dancing, doing punk aerobics, creating fine art, traveling, making memes, petting cats, and hanging with friends & family.
