L Star Murals is run by me, Lauren McElroy, a Philadelphia area native who lives in Los Angeles, CA.  I graduated from Maryland Institute, College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2000. My journey as a commercial artist began with designing in house chalkboards for Whole Foods, which led to creating hand painted signs and murals for Trader Joe’s, helping to open countless stores from the ground up during my time there.

In 2012 I decided to take the leap and launch my own company, L Star Murals. As demand in the first few years grew, I selected and trained a small team of talented artists that now work with me to design and execute all of the artwork. We have been fortunate to work with many wonderful clients, designers and collaborators, and are grateful to continue to work with Trader Joe’s after all these years. L Star Murals specializes in creating representational, decorative and text based designs utilizing playful, contemporary ideas, dynamic layouts and thoughtful color palettes.

While we mainly paint murals around the greater Los Angeles area, projects have brought us all over Southern California and across the country. Murals of ours have been shown on Sports Illustrated, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, People Magazine, Bar Rescue, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell & Back, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, Eater LA, Silverlake Blog as well as the 2017 band announcement & billboard launch for FYF Fest.

I truly appreciate the connections to all kinds of interesting people that this job provides. I am always grateful to collaborate with new and adventurous partners. Outside of slinging paint, I like to spend time hiking and camping with my husband, gardening, dancing, doing punk aerobics, creating fine art, traveling, making memes, snuggling cats, eating sushi and hanging with friends & family.
